When do I need to translate documents
Translation of documents may be necessary both for Russian citizens abroad and for foreigners who have come for employment or to obtain a residence permit. The most common cases when you will need to take care of having a translation are:
- entering an educational institution – it will be necessary to translate the certificate of secondary education, diploma, and other documents;
- employment – a notarized translation of your passport is a must;
- obtaining a temporary or permanent residence permit - in order to apply, you will need to collect a whole package of documents, which usually includes a birth certificate and other personal papers;
- you may need a notarized translation of your driver's license to drive a car;
- marrying a citizen of another state;
- conducting business;
- obtaining a bank card;
- execution of power of attorney, etc.
How do we certify translation
When talking about translating documents, we are most often dealing with notarization. This procedure involves preparation of a translation by a certified professional, as well as confirmation of its signature by a duly acting notary public. This will indicate that the document was prepared by a professional translator, and the fact of certification will be noted in the official state notarial register.
It is also not rare that the receiving party will ask you to prepare a "translation with the translator's signature and stamp". For example, this can happen when preparing documents for a visa. Based on our experience, we know exactly what information should be specified in this type of translation certification and are ready to meet additional requirements. For translations done with BetterLetter, we provide our signature and our stamp free of charge.
